Once upon a time, in the XV° century, Aquila Nera (Black Eagle), which is how our hotel was called when run by Mrs. Emma Hellenstainer, was the first and only welcoming establishment in Villabassa. It soon became a meeting point for scholars, from philosophers to scientists, but also for the holiday makers of the Astro-Hungarian aristocracy.
Many things have changed and improved during the centuries. But what has remained the same are the joys of spontaneity and the passion for healthy and quality food.
Just like Emma almost 200 years ago, we are committed to offering genuine and tasty food. This is why we use natural spices and flavours, never using a microwave, additives, or flavour enhancers.
