Hiking Holidays in the Dolomites

Discovering the Dolomites...

The scented flowers that abound in the green meadows sway in the breeze. The rays of the sun bathe the landscape in a warm light and glance off the crosses on the peaks that stand out against the blue sky, acting as an invitation to people walking down in the valley.

It's spring. Then summer, autumn and winter. And sometimes a combination of all seasons.

Snowdrops poke out through the lingering traces of snow, a bracing wind descends from the peaks, while later in the year you feel the need to jump in cool water to escape the heat of summer. Other times, the elements can catch out hikers like with a sudden snowfall in June. But the sun always prevails in the end. Until late autumn, the sun paints the vivid landscape in beautiful hues.

And it is always a good time to go on a hiking holiday and discover Alta Pusteria with all the senses...

A hiking holiday in Alta Pusteria -
Hotel Emma's recommendations:

"Bellavista" excursion:

from Villabassa you climb to the Malga Pozzo hut at the bottom of the Monte Serla Mountain and the Monte Lungo Mountain.
And there you will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of the Zillertal Alps - for free!

Hiking time: 3.5 h | Change in level: 589 m | Difficulty: medium

Putzalm - Sarlkofl
Three Peaks excursion

Walk around the Three Peaks of Lavaredo:

this is the classic excursion not be missed on a hiking holiday in Alta Pusteria. The walk around the Three Peaks brings you in close contact with the UNESCO World Heritage Site. This walk is also suitable for less experienced hikers.

Hiking time: 4 h | Change in level: 440 m | Difficulty: easy

The pearl among the lakes of the Dolomites:

the water is sometimes turquoise, sometimes midnight blue, but always clear and incredibly alluring - and Braies Lake is definitely among the most beautiful in the Dolomites. You can go on a walk all around the Lake, cross it in a rowing boat and, if it isn't too cold, take a swim in its cool waters.

Hiking time: 1 - 1.5 h | Change in level: 93 m | Schwierigkeitsgrad: easy
(part of it is suitable for pushchairs)

Braies Lake in the Dolomites
Monte Serla

Climb up Monte Serla:

this mountain overlooks the nearby town of Dobbiaco and is a real "panoramic terrace" offering a splendid all-round view of the surrounding Dolomites. Of course, it takes a little effort to reach the viewpoint: the path is steep in parts and requires good level of fitness. But the reward more than makes up for the effort!

Hiking time: 6.5 h | Change in level: 1220 m | Difficulty: medium-difficult

A place in the sun:

the Dolomites, the Three Peaks, the Odle Mountains, the Ortles and much more can be seen from the Bonner hut, at 2,340 m above sea level. It is highly recommended to go up from here to the Corno di Fana, 2,663 metres above sea level, to enjoy a sunrise or sunset and the unforgettable view of the Grossglockner, Grossvenediger and other glaciers.

Hiking time: 6 h | Change in level: 1070 m | Difficulty: medium
