Schwarzer Adler was the first guesthouse in Villabassa. Opened in the 15th century, philosophers, scientists and other academics and summer guests from the hogher echelons of Austro-Hungarian nobility visited the guesthouse. Under the management of the renowned tourism expert
Emma Hellenstainer, the guesthouse became popular for its exquisite cuisine.
Guests were spoiled with
healthy food already back in
Miss Emma's day! This tradition has been preserved up to date. Whenever possible we use home-grown products or products from organic farmers from the surroundings, who we know in person.
Culinary delights – today and in ancient days, from morning to evening. In the morning you will be spoiled with a vast
breakfast buffet. What could be better than a good breakfast: fresh Italian coffee, home-made teas, crunchy bread, home-made jams, cold meat slices, cheese and bacon, cereals, yoghurts, fruit, farmer's eggs and various juices at your disposal.
In the evening you will be spoiled with a
4-course menu with South Tyrolean dishes and Mediterranean specialties. Regional products are mainly used for the preparation. If you like you can swap your menu for a real Italian
pizza in our own Pizzeria in Schwarzer Adler.
Full board is offered upon request. During the summer months, a fine menu is also served at lunch time. The rest of the year you can choose your lunch from our à-la-carte menu.
Enjoy an
aperitif or a noble
distillate in our
bar, which is also a popular meeting point for locals.
